Roaring 40s have been paddling in the wilderness of Southwest Tasmania since 1998. As the only kayaking guides working there, we know the place intimately – all the sheltered bays and open beaches, all the peaks and high places, every hidden corner and comfortable campsite.
When you explore these World Heritage waterways with us, you’ll share our knowledge, skills and experience. You’ll traverse wild places in a way that few others do, in a sea kayak. You’ll leave the wilderness with some great stories to tell – and you may even find that’s it’s a life-changing adventure.
This is a remote and beautiful region. There are no roads. No settlements. Very few tracks. We reach spectacular destinations in the best possible way – by water, at a paddling pace.
We offer you two wonderful opportunities to discover Southwest Tasmania with a paddle in your hand.
Our 3-Day Exploration is based at a comfortable, sheltered standing camp on the shores of Melaleuca Inlet, a short paddle from the wide expanse of Bathurst Harbour. You’ll venture out each day to find islands with sandy beaches and groves of native pines; climb peaks for panoramic views; then return each evening for hearty dinners and a cosy bed.
Our 7-Day Adventure is a rewarding expedition that explores deeper into the wilderness, to where the Breaksea Islands guard the entrance to Bathurst Harbour; and into the open waters of Port Davey, to feel the endless rhythm of the Southern Ocean.
